ARTICLE 1: TRINITY

We believe that there is only one living and true God; possessed of all possible perfections and of each in an infinite degree; and that He has revealed Himself in the Holy Scriptures to His people under the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the same in essence and equal in every divine perfection. (Exodus 20:1-3; Isaiah 46:9; Mark 12:29; John 10:30, 14:9, 16:7-15; Matthew 28:19)

ARTICLE 2: INCARNATION

We believe that the Son who is the Word of the Father, the very and eternal God, took man’s nature of the Virgin Mary so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say the Godhead and Manhood, were joined together in one Person, whereof is Christ, very God and man; who truly suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried, to reconcile us to the Father and to be a sacrifice not only for original guilt, but also for the actual sins of man. (Philippians 2:6-8; John 2:2,24; Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 20:28; Romans 5:18-21; 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18; Hebrews 1:8; Ephesians 2:16)

ARTICLE 3: RESURRECTION

We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ did bodily rise again from the dead and ascended into heaven, and there sits at the right hand of God where He ever lives to make intercession for the redeemed. (Corinthians 15:20; 1 Peter 1:3; Hebrews 1:3, 25; 1 John 2:1)

ARTICLE 4: HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, was sent to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He brings about our new birth, baptizes us into the universal body of Christ, and indwells us at the moment of our conversion. He leads believers in paths of truth and holiness.

ARTICLE 5: GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

We believe that certain gifts of the Holy Spirit were given especially under the supervision of the apostles for the extension of the church. These miraculous gifts testified to the authenticity of the apostles’ message. Where the church of Jesus Christ is established and the scripture is complete as the final revelation of God, these apostolic sign gifts are no longer practiced.

ARTICLE 6: THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God and contain all things necessary to salvation. Whatsoever is not found in nor can be proved by Scripture, is neither required nor necessary for salvation. All that the Scriptures teach, whether of faith, history, or nature, is to be regarded as true without any mixture of error. (2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; John 10:34,35; Luke 16:17)

ARTICLE 7: MAN

We believe that man was created in a holy and happy state, but his disobedience to the law of his Creator, he not only exposed himself to personal misery, but involved his whole posterity in the temporal and eternal consequences of sin; and as an effect of his apostasy, the whole human race possess a depraved nature, by which they are disinclined to things morally good, and prone to choose and delight in evil. (Genesis 1:27, 3:6-24; Ecclesiastes 7:29; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 13:23; Matthew 25:46; John 3:6; Romans 1:32,

ARTICLE 8: SALVATION

We believe that the only way of salvation from this state of guilt and condemnation is through the righteousness and atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is now exalted to be the King and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Isaiah 53:4-8; John 10:9-11,15; Acts 4:11,12, 5:31; Romans 5:6,8-11,21, 6:23, 3:21-16; John 3:16,36)

ARTICLE 9: ASSURANCE

We believe that Christ Jesus died for our sins and rose again for our justification and that we have the fullest assurance that those truly born of the Spirit and trusting in Christ shall never be lost, and that those who die in the Lord shall rise again to a glorious immortality. Wherefore, it is the duty of all believers to give all diligence to make their calling and election sure, by sincere and loving obedience to the commands and teachings of His Word. (John 10:28; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8:28-39, 4:25, 5:18; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 52, 53; 2 Peter 1:10)

ARTICLE 10: SECOND COMING

We believe that Christ will come a second time with power and great glory. That there will be a resurrection of the just and the unjust; that the just will be raised incorruptible, who together with the righteous living, changed in a moment, shall be rewarded according to the deeds done in the body and received into Christ’s kingdom and glory, and so shall they ever be with the Lord; and that the unjust shall awake to shame and everlasting damnation. (Hebrews 9:28; Titus 2:13; Colossians 3:4; Acts 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:52; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Thessalonians 4: 16,17; Daniel 12:2; Revelation 22:11)

ARTICLE 11: ORDINANCES

We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ, to be continued until His Second Coming. We believe that Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in Christ, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, and our death to sin and resurrection to a new life through our identification with Him.

We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a provision of bread and wine, as symbols of Christ’s body and blood, partaken of the believers in Christ in commemoration of the suffering and death of their Lord; showing their faith and participation in the merits of His sacrifice, and their hope of eternal life through His resurrection from the dead; its observance to be preceded by faithful self-examination. (Matthew 28:19; John 3:23; Acts 2:41,42, 8:36,39; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; 1 Corinthians 10:16)

ARTICLE 12: THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church of Christ is a congregation of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ, exercising the gifts and privileges of His Word, for mutual edification and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world; that its officers are Elders and Deacons, whose qualifications and duties are clearly set forth in the letters of Paul. (Acts 2:41,47, 11:21-23; 1 Corinthians 1:1-13, 4:17, 14:23; 3 John 1:9, 2 Corinthians 8:1-5; Matthew 28:20; Galatians 6:2; 1 Timothy 3)
